For the first time ever, the Black Ferns and the Wallaroos will play a women’s rugby Test match on Anzac Day, 25 April 2026.
The match will take place at Sunshine Coast Stadium in Australia.
This special game is part of the Pacific Four Series and will also be the first of two matches in the O’Reilly Cup series this year.
The rivalry between the Black Ferns (New Zealand) and the Wallaroos (Australia) began in 1994. Since then, the teams have faced off 29 times, including at three Women’s Rugby World Cups. So far, New Zealand has won every 15-a-side match between the two sides.
Leaders from both countries are excited to host the match on such a meaningful day. Chris Lendrum, from New Zealand Rugby, said playing on Anzac Day adds something special to an already exciting contest.
Phil Waugh, head of Rugby Australia, said that the bond between Australia and New Zealand makes this match even more significant.
