Liam Lawson scores first points

Lando Norris won the famous Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, achieving a childhood dream and earning his second Grand Prix win of the season.

New Zealand’s Liam Lawson also celebrated a personal best. He finished eighth, scoring his first points this season and reaching the highest placing of his Formula 1 career. Lawson helped his teammate, Isack Hadjar, take sixth place by slowing down the race at the right time, allowing Hadjar to pit without losing time.

“It’s not often a plan works so well,” Lawson said after the race.

Verstappen briefly led but hadn’t made a required second pit stop due to a new rule. He slowed down to help his chances, hoping for a late red flag that never came. Norris stayed calm, even as Leclerc chased closely behind him.

McLaren made history with its 16th Monaco Grand Prix win—more than any other team. The last time McLaren won here was in 2008 with a young Lewis Hamilton. Now, Norris and Piastri are leading a strong season for McLaren, with six wins out of eight races.

Piastri, though only third, has now reached the podium seven times in a row. His steady success shows how far he has come in just one year.
