New Zealand’s women’s rugby sevens team, the Black Ferns, beat Australia 31-7 to win the Singapore Sevens title once again.

The Black Ferns started strong with Michaela Blyde scoring just 69 seconds into the match. Risi Pouri-Lane added another try to make it 12-0. Just before halftime, Australia fought back with a try from Maddison Levi, closing the gap to 12-7.

Early in the second half, Jazmin Felix-Hotham scored and helped Kelsey Teneti get another try for New Zealand. Blyde finished the match with her second try, making her the top try-scorer in women’s world series history. This was New Zealand’s fourth win in six finals this season.

In the men’s final, Kenya took an early lead after a clever kick and chase just before halftime. They were up 7-0 and had not allowed a single point in the first half of any match during the tournament.

But Fiji struck back quickly. Joseva Talacolo set up two tries for Vuiviwa Naduvalo, who was named Player of the Final. Rauto Vakadranu scored another for Fiji, sealing the win. Although Kenya scored once more, it wasn’t enough to stop Fiji’s victory.

This win extended Fiji’s dominance over Kenya, having now beaten them 15 times in a row since 2018.
