The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, now in its 60th year, has unveiled some of its most breathtaking images. This year’s contest attracted nearly 60,000 entries from 117 countries, showcasing the best of nature photography from around the globe.

These photos were judged anonymously by a panel of experts, focusing on creativity, originality, and technical skill. While the winners will be announced on October 8, 2024, the Natural History Museum in London has already released some highly commended images.

These standout pictures will be part of an exhibition featuring 100 photographs, opening on October 11, 2024, in London.

Kathy Moran, chair of the judging panel, praised the images for showing both the beauty and challenges of the natural world. This year’s competition continues to evolve, embracing powerful representations of nature that inspire and amaze.
