Un autre jour aux Jeux olympiques, which is french for another day at the Olympics. Lets have a look at some of the performances that Kiwi Athletes have brought to the Olympic Stage.

Pole Vault Results:

New Zealand’s Eliza McCartney, Imogen Ayris, and Olivia McTaggart showcased strong performances in the Women’s Pole Vault final but fell short of winning medals. Eliza McCartney successfully cleared 4.60 meters and 4.70 meters before missing at 4.80 meters. Imogen Ayris achieved a personal best by clearing 4.60 meters, while Olivia McTaggart also cleared 4.60 meters.

Cycling Success:

The New Zealand Women’s Team Pursuit cycling team, comprising Bryony Botha, Ally Wollaston, Emily Shearman, and Nicole Shields, claimed the silver medal after finishing second to the USA. The Men’s Team Pursuit team finished in fifth place overall. In the Women’s Keirin, Ellesse Andrews advanced to the quarterfinals by winning her heat, and Rebecca Petch also qualified after finishing second in her repechage. Meanwhile, Sam Dakin set a New Zealand record in the Men’s Sprint qualifying but did not progress after finishing third in his repechage.

Track and Field Highlights:

Hamish Kerr advanced to the Men’s High Jump final by clearing 2.27 meters, making him a strong contender for medals. In the Men’s Triple Jump, Ethan Olivier finished 30th in the qualifying round, ending his Olympic campaign. Tori Peeters also concluded her competition by placing 19th in the Women’s Javelin, missing the final cut.

Sailing and Diving:

The Mixed Multihull sailing team of Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson awaits the medal race due to wind delays. Thomas Saunders finished seventh in the Men’s Dinghy, while Lukas Walton-Keim and Justina Kitchen concluded their kite surfing events. In diving, Lizzie Roussel completed her participation in the Women’s 3m Springboard, finishing 26th in the preliminaries.

Golf and Athletics:

Lydia Ko finished her first day of Women’s Individual Stroke Play in a tie for 13th place, with an even score of 73. James Preston will compete in the 800m race repechage after placing eighth in his heat with a time of 1:48.50.

Kayaking Achievements:

Dame Lisa Carrington and Aimee Fisher excelled in their K1 500m heats, advancing directly to the semifinals. Carrington clocked the fastest heat time of 1:48.51, closely followed by Fisher at 1:49.16. Both paddlers are strong contenders in this event, with Carrington already a five-time Olympic gold medalist.

These performances highlight New Zealand’s continued success and determination across various Olympic sports.
