A pet horse from Virginia has been named the oldest living horse in the world at 37 years and 329 days old. Fancy, who was born on 1 April 1988, received the official title from Guinness World Records after her owner sent in proof of her age.
Fancy belongs to Paige Sigmon Blumer, who shares the same birthday as her horse. The pair have been together since Blumer was just eight years old and Fancy was 12. Over nearly three decades, they have grown up side by side and built a strong friendship.
Blumer said she never imagined they would still be together at ages 33 and 37. As Fancy has grown older, she has faced several health problems. However, her owner says the horse is strong-willed and never gives up, and she promises to stand by Fancy no matter what.
Fancy’s best friend is a donkey named Rose. Rose acts as a guide because Fancy is nearly blind. The two animals spend their days together in the sunshine, keeping each other company.
Fancy took the title from another horse named Baskaladd, who died in 2025 at the age of 38. Although Fancy is the oldest living horse, the oldest horse ever recorded was Old Billy, who reached the remarkable age of 62 in 1822.
