A New Zealand company has teamed up with Samsung to develop a phone designed to keep kids safe online. This initiative is designed to keep children safe from very harmful and violent content that is increasingly found on the internet.

Rory Birkbeck, founder of Safe Surfer, an at-home internet filtering service, is one such parent. He recently announced a partnership with Samsung to create a “kids-safe” phone.

Out of the box, the Kid-Safe Phone is a stripped-down device which lets you choose how much functionality you want your child to have.

The Kid-Safe Phone begins as a simple communicator. As they grow, so can their access, with everything under your watchful eye.

Parents can choose from three distinct levels of functionality – crafted to match your child’s maturity and your comfort level, so you can give them access to exactly what they need – and nothing they don’t.

The Kid-Safe Smartphone is available on Samsung Galaxy devices, which run the Android operating system. They are selling the Galaxy A15 and A25 5G Smartphones and the Galaxy Tablet A9 set up ready to go; prices range from $299 to $549.
