A surprising hero emerged at the Paris 2024 Olympics when a man in colourful trunks dove into the pool to retrieve a lost cap.

This happened during a delay in the preliminary heats of the women’s 100m breaststroke.

The swimming cap belonged to Team USA’s Emma Webber and had fallen into the pool, causing a delay. Cameras at the bottom of the pool couldn’t function properly with the cap in the way. That’s when an unexpected volunteer stepped up to help.

The man, thought to be an Olympic official, stripped down to a striking pair of trunks and performed a dive that amazed everyone. The audience of 15,000 in the La Defense Arena cheered as he swam to the bottom and retrieved the cap.

As he exited the pool, he waved the cap in the air, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. His quick action and unique outfit made him a memorable part of the event.
