ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Have you ever heard of Mahuru Māori? It’s a te reo Māori challenge that started in 2014 by Paraone Gloyne. The goal of Mahuru Māori is to speak as much te reo Māori as possible during the month of September. It’s a way to celebrate and make te reo Māori a normal part of our everyday lives.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or know heaps of te reo Māori, you can take part. It could be as simple as greeting everyone in te reo Māori or deciding to speak only te reo for a certain amount of time each day.
There are heaps of people participating in Mahuru Māori, and together we can help make te reo Māori heard around our neighbourhoods. You can share what you know with others, take te reo Māori to your school, and encourage others to learn and use te reo Māori.
Mahuru Māori is a chance for us to show Māori and non-Māori how awesome te reo Māori is and help keep it alive. So, let’s get ready for Mahuru Māori 2023! Show your participation by registering, you will also be sent some choice resources to help you.
