Fieldays 2024: Event Opens with Honours

The 56th Fieldays began at Mystery Creek on 12 June with a cold but dry start. The day featured new technology launches, government announcements, and special recognition for the event.

The opening included a pōwhiri, flag-raising, and ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Fieldays Society chairwoman Jenni Vernon, Agriculture and Trade Minister Todd McClay, and Tumuaki o te Kiingitanga Hone Thompson.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon attended the Fieldays Primary Leaders Luncheon, supporting a government inquiry into rural banking.

Fieldays is a national and international event which exemplifies New Zealand’s innovation, quality, and authenticity in the agricultural sector.
