Carrington to miss 2025 Kayak Season

New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian, Dame Lisa Carrington, will not take part in the 2025 international kayak season.

She plans to return next year, focusing on preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Although she is back to full training, she has chosen not to compete overseas this year.

Dame Lisa has won eight Olympic medals and is one of the country’s top sporting stars. Last year, she won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics, adding to her impressive record.

Canoe Racing New Zealand has announced a new 13-member team to compete in this year’s International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe Sprint World Cups. These races will be held in Szeged, Hungary, and Poznan, Poland.

The team includes Aimee Fisher, Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett, and ten others. They will represent New Zealand on the world stage while Dame Lisa focuses on her training at home.
