Blackcaps game Washed Out

New Zealand’s Blackcaps had their Super Eight match against Pakistan abandoned after heavy rain stopped play at the T20 World Cup.

The game was meant to be played in the Super Eight stage, but the weather quickly took over and the teams could not get on the field.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha won the toss and chose to bat first. However, the rain kept getting heavier, and puddles began forming on the covers and around the outfield. With the ground too wet and unsafe, officials decided the match could not start.

Because the game was washed out, both New Zealand and Pakistan received one point each. That means neither team got the chance to score runs, take wickets, or gain an advantage over the other.

The tournament now moves on quickly, with Pakistan scheduled to play England on Tuesday in a meeting between two former champions. New Zealand will next play tournament co-hosts Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
