The Black Ferns secured a spot in the semifinals of the women’s rugby sevens at the Olympics with a stunning 55-5 victory against China.

This dominant performance followed their earlier 43-5 win over China in the pool stage.

The Black Ferns scored nine tries in the quarterfinal match. Key moments included Sarah Hirini scoring right after kickoff, and Felix-Hotham adding to the lead despite being down a player due to a penalty. By halftime, the score was 24-5 in favor of New Zealand.

In the second half, the Black Ferns continued to dominate. Blyde and Felix-Hotham each scored again, with Felix-Hotham making a particularly powerful run through two defenders. Paul scored with her first touch after substituting for Felix-Hotham, and Hirini crossed the line one more time to surpass their pool game score.

The Black Ferns will now face the winner of the Great Britain vs. USA match in the semifinal. Other quarterfinal matches include France vs. Canada and Australia vs. Ireland.

The semifinals promise exciting rugby action as the Black Ferns aim for Olympic glory.
