The Black Ferns have crushed Scotland 66-14 in Edinburgh, keeping their perfect record alive in the WXV Global Series.
New Zealand raced away early, with Mo’omo’oga Palu scoring just two minutes into the match. By half-time, the Black Ferns already led 38-14, after six different players had crossed the try line in the first 40 minutes alone.
Fullback Braxton Sorensen-McGee had a strong night with the boot, converting seven out of nine kicks at goal.
It wasn’t all one-way traffic, though. Scotland’s Evie Gallagher made history, becoming the first player ever to score a try against the Black Ferns in four meetings between the two teams, stretching back to 1998. She then scored a second try, and Scotland’s final tally of 14 points was the most they’ve ever managed against New Zealand.
The Black Ferns had to make a late change before kick-off, after starting lock Laura Bayfield was ruled out sick just hours before the game.
Despite the disruption, the result keeps the Black Ferns unbeaten in this year’s WXV Global Series, one of the top competitions in women’s rugby. The team will play again on 27 September 2026, when they take on England in London.
