RJ’s has announced it will stop making Jaffas. The famous orange-coated chocolate balls will stop being manufactured as of early July 2025 due to falling sales. The company confirmed the decision this week, calling it “disappointing news” for fans across the country.
Jaffas have been a beloved treat for generations, known for their bright orange candy shell and smooth chocolate centre. Many New Zealanders remember eating them at the movies or during special occasions.
RJ’s, based in Levin, took over Jaffas in 2018 after the Cadbury factory in Dunedin closed. But now, the sweets have been taken off store shelves, and they no longer appear on the RJ’s website.
“Sadly, not enough people have been buying Jaffas lately,” a company spokesperson explained. “We know this is tough news for those who grew up with them.”
The decision follows a similar move in 2023 when Jaffas were also removed from stores in Australia.
Despite saying goodbye to Jaffas, RJ’s says it will keep creating new and exciting treats. “We are committed to continuing to innovate,” the company said.
