Spotify Wrapped has landed, giving New Zealanders a snapshot of their listening habits for 2024. It’s no surprise that Taylor Swift held onto her crown as the country’s most-streamed artist, with her album The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology taking the top spot for most-streamed album.

Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter also dominated playlists with their chart-topping records. Meanwhile, Benson Boone’s viral hit “Beautiful Things” claimed the title of New Zealand’s most-streamed track, cementing the rising popstar’s global impact.

Local legends SIX60 kept their top spot as New Zealand’s most-streamed homegrown artist, followed by L.A.B and Stan Walker.

In podcasts, The Joe Rogan Experience topped both New Zealand’s and the world’s charts, with millions tuning in to hear the comedian and commentator interview high-profile guests. Prince Harry’s audiobook, Spare, was the most popular listen in the audiobook category, followed by Colleen Hoover’s It Ends with Us and J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring. Locally, Jared Savage’s Gangland and Scotty Morrison’s Māori Made Easy led the way in audiobook listens.

Dr. Jesse Austin-Stewart, a music lecturer, says Spotify Wrapped thrives because it’s both fun and shareable, giving users a glimpse into their personal music journey.
