Trump meets Biden at White House

President Joe Biden welcomed former President Donald Trump to the White House, beginning the official transition process as Trump prepares to take office once more.

After winning the recent presidential election, Trump will start his second term on January 20, 2025, at the traditional Inauguration ceremony, where he’ll take an oath to serve and uphold the nation’s values.

The meeting between Biden and Trump, two political rivals with a long history of disagreements, wasn’t expected to be warm and cozy. After all, they’ve traded quite a few sharp words over the years. However, as the cameras rolled, Trump remarked to Biden, “Politics is tough… but it’s a nice world today.” He thanked Biden for ensuring a “smooth changeover of power,” which is a bit ironic given the bumpy transition in 2020 when Trump refused to meet Biden and claimed the election was rigged.

The two presidents later retreated to the Oval Office for a private discussion. While the exact details are unknown, it’s likely they talked about the responsibilities Trump will inherit and the major issues facing the U.S. today.
