One of New Zealand’s beloved chocolate treats, the Cadbury chocolate fish, will soon vanish from store shelves.
Cadbury stopped producing these treats last year, and the remaining stock is almost gone.
A Cadbury spokesperson said that the decision to cease production was due to a decline in popularity among Kiwi consumers. The chocolate fish struggled to compete for shelf space and production time against other snack options.
Although the chocolate fish will no longer be available, smaller versions, known as “sprats,” can still be found in Cadbury Kiwi Favourites boxes.
For those willing to pay a bit more, local confectionery company Queen Anne offers individually wrapped 50g chocolate fish for $3 and boxes of fish bites.
This isn’t the first time classic sweets have been discontinued. Earlier this year, Whittaker’s announced the removal of Toffee Bars from its lineup. In 2009, Cadbury also discontinued popular treats like Snifters and Tangy Fruits from its Pascall brand, causing quite a stir among fans.

The owners must’ve been scared to lose their cat but in the end the cat was found by a kind person who looked after the cat after walking 1448 km.
