Kmart has announced plans to introduce self-navigating robots into its New Zealand stores. This marks a significant expansion for the retail giant.

The self-navigating robots will; be named “Tory” and be in all of its 26 stores across New Zealand.

These robots are equipped with RFID technology, allowing them to accurately count all pieces of clothing, footwear, and accessories by scanning RFID tags on products. Tory operates primarily overnight, reducing the workload for store team members while providing up-to-date product availability information for customers.

This technology represents a significant advancement for Kmart, as it shifts from annual stocktakes to daily inventory management with Tory’s assistance. The introduction of these robots is expected to enhance customer experiences and optimize inventory management across Kmart’s New Zealand stores.
