Musk gets rid of twitter name and logo

Elon Musk and Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino have revealed a new logo for the social media platform, featuring a white “X” on a black background to replace the traditional blue bird symbol. Musk had asked his Twitter followers if they would support changing the site’s color scheme from blue to black.

The new “X” logo is now visible on both Yaccarino’s and Musk’s Twitter handles, although the original Twitter bird symbol remains across the platform. Musk mentioned an “interim X logo” and expressed plans to bid farewell to the Twitter brand and gradually replace all bird-related references.

Musk’s ambition to create an “everything app” called “X” has been linked to his acquisition of Twitter. He purchased the domain x.com back from PayPal in 2017, and while Twitter’s official page on the platform has been renamed as “X,” the x.com domain is not active.

Yaccarino, who became Twitter’s CEO in June, has taken over during a challenging period for the platform, with a decline in advertising revenue and the rise of competing platforms like Meta’s Threads. The new “X” branding is seen as a way to connect more closely with Elon Musk’s wider empire, including SpaceX.
