Get ready for an exciting celebration of music in New Zealand! This May is TE MARAMA PUORO O AOTEAROA 2023 (NZ Music Month), and the New Zealand Music Commission is putting on an event to remember.

This year’s theme is “Community and Collaboration,” which means working together to build a better musical landscape in Aotearoa. From writing songs and creating content to partnering with others and hosting events, everyone is invited to get involved and make great music together.

Rodney Fisher, from the NZ Music Commission, believes that collaborating is vital for a thriving and creative music scene. He hopes that this year’s theme will encourage people to think outside the box and come together to create something amazing.

There are many exciting events happening all over the country, from small towns to big cities. One of the first events is the Small Hall Sessions, which is part of Hawkes Bay Music Month. These concerts are taking place in remote halls all over the area, bringing music to people who might not have easy access to it. It’s a chance for the community to come together and enjoy some great music while also supporting local musicians.

If you’re not in Hawkes Bay, don’t worry! You can still get involved by buying a donated ticket for someone who was affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. This is a great way to spread the joy of music and bring people together from all over New Zealand.

So get ready to celebrate music and community this May in New Zealand!
