The Wellington Phoenix men are on fire, extending their unbeaten streak to six games and claiming the top spot in the A-League with a thrilling 1-0 victory against Western United in Ballarat.

The defining moment came in the 79th minute when Ben Old, in a dazzling display of skill, embarked on a surging run forward and netted a decisive strike, breaking the deadlock and securing the Phoenix’s fourth win in six matches to kick off the new season.

This victory holds extra significance as it marks Wellington’s first win on Australian soil in their 2023-24 campaign, following draws in their previous two outings against Western Sydney and Melbourne Victory.
