Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has officially retired from Test cricket after a long and successful career.
He played 123 matches over 14 years and was known for his strong batting and passionate leadership.
Kohli, 36, said the decision was not easy but “felt right.” In his message, he shared how the format shaped him and taught him valuable life lessons. His announcement came just days after fellow Indian player Rohit Sharma also stepped away from Test cricket.
During his career, Kohli scored 9,230 runs, with 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. He averaged 46.85 runs per match and captained India in 68 Tests, winning 40 of them—the most by any Indian Test captain.
He described the five-day Test format as special, noting the “quiet grind” and the small, memorable moments on the field. Kohli thanked his teammates, fans, and everyone who supported him.
