NZ Sevens sides second and third at World Series

The Black Ferns Sevens have finished second and the All Black Sevens third at the opening round of the 2023 World Series in Dubai.

The Black Ferns (women’s) side were beaten 26-19 by Australia in their final, while the All Black Sevens beat Fiji 17-12 in the third place play-off.

New Zealand had lost 21-19 to Argentina in their quarter final.

It was the Australian women’s fourth straight Dubai title while their victory ended New Zealand’s 41-match winning streak.

Kelly Brazier became the third Black Fern to score 100 tries, touching down in their 26-14 quarter-final win over Brazil.

The second round is in Cape Town next weekend.
