Biggie’s Pizza in Dunedin has created an enormous 32-inch pizza, the largest in the country.
This gigantic pizza features eight massive slices, each about the size of a standard 12-inch pizza. To get this huge pizza out of the kitchen, restaurant owner Ian Lindsay had to use a skill saw on two doorways.
The new 32-inch pizza dwarfs the usual family-sized 20-inch pizza. It was made possible by a new $45,000 pizza oven at Biggie’s Pizza’s Green Island location. However, this new size presented challenges, including the need to modify door frames to move the pizza from the kitchen to the dining area.
Lindsay joked about the hope that the landlord wouldn’t mind the changes.
The creation of this massive pizza also required a special octagonal pan, fittingly inspired by Dunedin’s Octagon area. A single slice of this pizza is as big as a whole 12-inch pizza, which is usually shared by two people.
Biggie’s Pizza offers 29 different flavors on their regular menu, but the 32-inch pizza is limited to classic, single-ingredient options. This incredible creation is a unique addition to Dunedin’s culinary scene, bringing excitement and a challenge to pizza lovers in the area.
