A man took an unusual “shopping trip” in Brisbane by stealing 53 right-foot shoes from a display at a local shopping centre. The strange theft happened around 7:35 p.m. on July 7 in the suburb of Kenmore, and police are now asking for help to identify the person.

Security cameras showed the man entering the shopping centre on Brookfield Road and walking to a sale table in a common area. The table had several bags containing shoes. He placed many right shoes into a suitcase before leaving.

The shoes were part of a special sale, where only right-foot shoes were on display to help prevent theft. The store shared the news on Instagram, joking about the strange situation. “Someone treated themselves to a little ‘shopping spree’… and took off with 53 right-foot boots,” they said.

They added humour to the post by asking, “Were you aware you were grabbing solos?” and wondering what the thief planned to do with such an “unbalanced haul.”

The case has caught attention for its unusual twist, after all, what can you do with 53 right shoes and no left ones?
