The team organising the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles has announced plans to introduce flying electric taxis to help people travel more easily during the busy event. The idea comes from LA28, the group in charge of planning the Games, which will take place in the summer of 2028.
LA is known for its heavy traffic, so these flying taxis could offer a faster way to get around. The vehicles would be electric and work like small helicopters, flying fans to and from major Olympic venues. Each flight is expected to last between 10 and 20 minutes.
The air taxis are being developed in partnership with a company called Archer Aviation. However, before they can take off, the service must be approved by U.S. air safety officials. A similar plan was suggested for the 2024 Paris Olympics, but it didn’t happen because the aircraft didn’t meet Europe’s safety rules in time.
If the flying taxis get permission, they could become one of the most exciting transportation options ever seen at an Olympics. This will be the third time Los Angeles has hosted the Games, following events in 1932 and 1984.
