Luka Doncic, a five-time NBA All-Star, has signed a new contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The deal is worth $279 million NZD over three years, keeping him with the team until at least 2028.

Doncic shared the news online, saying he’s excited to help the Lakers win championships and thanked fans for their support. Lakers president Rob Pelinka called it a “monumental moment” and praised Doncic for his talent and passion.

Doncic, 26, joined the Lakers earlier this year in a major trade that sent star player Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. Since arriving, Doncic has been a strong performer, averaging over 28 points per game and helping the Lakers become one of the top teams in the Western Conference.

Originally from Slovenia, Doncic was drafted in 2018 and has become one of the league’s biggest stars. He led the NBA in scoring last season with 33.9 points per game and once scored 73 points in a single match.
