The Blues have won the Super Rugby trophy for the first time in 21 years, defeating the Chiefs 41-10 at Eden Park. This victory marks their fourth title and extends their home winning streak to 16 games.

Caleb Clarke was the star, scoring three tries. The Blues took an early lead and maintained control throughout the match. Despite the Chiefs’ fans’ support, the team couldn’t keep up with the Blues’ strong performance.

The Chiefs struggled with mistakes and penalties, allowing the Blues to dominate the game.

The Blues’ first try came from Akira Ioane, and Harry Plummer added points with a penalty. The Ioane brothers combined for a second try by Clarke. By halftime, the Blues led 20-3.

In the second half, Clarke scored his second try, and a third try sealed the game. The Chiefs managed a late try, but it was too late. AJ Lam added one more try for the Blues.

With this win, the Blues ended their long wait for a championship, celebrating their triumph in the rain at fulltime. Coach Vern Cotter had a remarkable debut season, and Akira Ioane bid a fitting farewell to the team.

Scorers:

Blues 41 (Clarke 3, Ioane, Lam, tries; Plummer, 2 pen, 5 con)

Chiefs 10 (Parker, tries; McKenzie 1 pen, 1 con)

Halftime: 20-3
