Air New Zealand has been named the world’s safest airline for 2025 by AirlineRatings.com. The airline also picked up several other major international awards this year, celebrating its service, safety, and innovation.

It was named the best airline in the South Pacific by APEX and won titles for Oceania’s Leading Airline and Airline Brand at the 2025 World Travel Awards. Forbes Travel Guide awarded Air New Zealand Innovation of the Year for its Skycouch seats, which let passengers lie down more comfortably during flights.

Readers of USA TODAY also ranked the airline highly, placing it second for Best Airline, Cabin Crew, and Airline Food, and third for Business Class and Inflight Entertainment. Overall, AirlineRatings.com ranked it the third-best airline in the world.

The airline was praised not only for safety but also for its environmental efforts. It won the Asia Pacific CAPA Environmental Sustainability Award and was named Australia’s most trusted airline by Finder Awards.

Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand’s chief customer and digital officer, said these awards reflect the hard work of the airline’s staff. He said the honours also show how much the airline values care, or “manaaki”, for its passengers.

Air New Zealand was also named New Zealand’s Most Attractive Employer for the third year in a row by Ranstad.
