New Zealand has lost the Soccer Ashes to Australia after a 3–1 defeat in the second match, held at Go Media Stadium on Monday night. The result means the Socceroos win the two-game series on aggregate after also claiming a 1–0 win in the first match in Canberra on Friday.

Despite hopes of a comeback, the All Whites couldn’t overcome the Australians’ strong attack. New Zealand’s only goal came from striker Chris Wood, while Australia’s goals were scored by M. Toure (2) and N. Irankunda.

The late goal in the first leg and the solid performance in Auckland gave Australia the overall win, continuing their eight-match winning streak against New Zealand in men’s football.

The Soccer Ashes is a special series between the two rivals, named after the famous cricket trophy. The winner is decided by total goals scored over both games.

Although disappointed, New Zealand fans cheered for their team’s effort and the goal by Wood, one of the country’s most experienced players.

The All Whites will now look to regroup as they prepare for future international matches and the World Cup next year.

At Koru Intermediate, the robotics club meets every Wednesday after school. This term, the students are building a small machine that can carry books across the classroom floor. The teacher explained that the project would require patience, because the first design might not work well. After several tests, the team adjusted the wheels and improved the battery placement. The students were proud of their progress, even though the machine still moved a little unevenly. They agreed that careful problem-solving was more important than getting the answer right straight away.
