SILVER! The New Zealand Men’s Fours rowing team has won a silver medal in an exciting race at the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing just behind the USA, who took gold.
The race featured Italy, Great Britain, USA, New Zealand, Australia, and Romania competing for medals. In the boat for New Zealand were McLean, Ullrich, Murray, and Macdonald, representing New Zealand proudly.
New Zealand started strong, matching the USA’s powerful launch from the beginning.
After the first 500 meters, New Zealand and the USA began to pull ahead of the other teams, proving they were the top contenders for gold. As the race reached the halfway mark, the USA led, but New Zealand was right on their heels, less than a second behind.
In the final 500 meters, New Zealand put on an incredible performance, trying to close the gap on the USA. The Kiwis gave it their all in the last stretch of the race, challenging the Americans and thrilling the fans watching and us back at home.
Although USA held onto their lead and won the gold medal, New Zealand’s effort secured them a well-deserved silver. Great Britain finished in third place, taking the bronze medal.
The Rowing is complete for the morning, and New Zealand is walking home with a complete set of medals. Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
