Princess Catherine made her first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis at a grand parade celebrating King Charles III’s birthday. This annual event, held in London, also marked a significant moment for the monarchy, showing strength and unity after months of dealing with health challenges.

The event, known as Trooping the Colour, saw Princess Catherine, along with her husband Prince William, their children, and other royal family members, join King Charles and Queen Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony. This appearance was particularly notable as it was her first public outing since December, following her announcement in March that she was undergoing chemotherapy.

Princess Catherine expressed that she is “making good progress” but still has several months of treatment ahead. She emphasized that her participation in the event does not signal a full return to public duties yet.

Thousands gathered to watch the parade, which featured a procession of horses, musicians, and soldiers in ceremonial uniforms. Wearing a white dress and wide-brimmed hat, traveled in a horse-drawn carriage with her children, George, Charlotte, and Louis. They watched the ceremony from a building overlooking the parade ground, with young Louis even dancing to the military music at times.

Prince William, dressed in military uniform, rode on horseback during the ceremony. Troops marched with their regimental flag, known as the “colour,” a tradition dating back to when such flags were crucial in battle.

King Charles, also undergoing cancer treatment, rode in a carriage with Queen Camilla and inspected the troops. This year’s parade featured the Irish Guards, with Princess Kate as their honorary colonel. Their mascot, an Irish wolfhound named Seamus, led the troops onto the parade ground.
