Chlöe Swarbrick, who represents Auckland Central, has been chosen as the new co-leader of the Green Party.

She steps into this role to work alongside Marama Davidson, taking over from James Shaw. This announcement was made on Sunday, bringing a fresh wave of enthusiasm within the Green Party.

Chlöe expressed her gratitude to the Green Party members for trusting her to guide their collective efforts with Marama. She emphasized the importance of working together to create a better world, where everyone can lead a decent life and nature is cared for.

She highlighted the Green Party’s commitment to this vision, inspired by the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.

In her speech, Chlöe also voiced her concerns about the current government’s actions, which she believes could have negative impacts on people and the environment. She encouraged everyone not to be disheartened by the government’s tactics but to use them as motivation to strive for a better future.

Chlöe won the leadership role against Alex Foulkes, who gracefully congratulated her and expressed his support for her leadership alongside Marama Davidson. James Shaw, the outgoing co-leader, praised Chlöe for her exceptional leadership qualities and her dedication to making a positive difference.
