The Penrith Panthers staged an incredible comeback in the NRL Grand Final to defeat the Brisbane Broncos 26-24 and secure their third consecutive title.

Nathan Cleary played a starring role, engineering the biggest comeback in grand final history, with Penrith down 24-8 with just 18 minutes remaining.

Cleary set up two tries and scored one himself in the dying minutes, including the crucial match-winning try with three minutes left.

His performance earned him a second Clive Churchill Medal. This victory makes Penrith the eighth team in history to win three straight premierships and the first to do so in the NRL era under a salary cap.
