New App called Threads released

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, is launching a new app called Threads to compete with Twitter.

The app, which can be pre-ordered on the Apple App Store, will be linked to Instagram and is described as a “text-based conversation app.”

Screenshots of the app’s dashboard show that it looks similar to Twitter. This move adds to the rivalry between Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, and Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter.

While Musk has made comments about Threads, Zuckerberg hopes to attract users away from Twitter to create a strong alternative. Threads will be part of the Instagram platform, giving it access to millions of existing accounts. This puts Meta in a good position to compete with Twitter.

Meanwhile, Musk is focusing on promoting Twitter’s subscription service, Twitter Blue, by making popular user dashboard TweetDeck available only to paying users.
