After some time, the fence was taken down, but the mayor of Hallstatt, Alexander Scheutz, has a new idea. He wants to hang a banner that will kindly remind tourists that residents call this place home.
Hallstatt is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which means it’s protected because of its historical significance. It’s a small town next to a beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains. The scenery is breathtaking, which is why it attracts so many visitors. In fact, a replica of the town was even built in China!

This isn’t the first time that tourist hotspots have faced selfie-related issues. In Portofino, Italy, the mayor claimed that too many tourists were causing chaos by taking pictures of colorful houses overlooking the sea. They had to set limits on how long people could stay in certain areas.
