A dog in Oklahoma has been given a Guinness World Record for having the longest tongue on a living dog. Ozzy, a mix of French mastiff and bull mastiff, has a tongue that measures an incredible 7.83 inches (about 20cm) long.
Ozzy lives with the Pick family, who say his tongue has always hung out of his mouth, even as a puppy. Despite its unusual length, vets have confirmed that Ozzy is completely healthy, with no dental problems.
The previous record-holder was a dog named Rocky from Illinois, whose tongue measured 5.46 inches in 2023. Ozzy beat that record by more than two inches.
Angela Pick, Ozzy’s owner, says the tongue doesn’t get in the way as much as people might think. “He doesn’t lick very much,” she said. “He’s not really into giving kisses—he prefers to rub noses.”
The Guinness World Records team officially measured Ozzy’s tongue to confirm the new title. Now, Ozzy is not only loved by his family but also recognised around the world for his unique feature.
