Without a Fight has won the 2023 Melbourne Cup, one of Australia’s most prestigious horse racing events.

The Irish galloper surged through the middle of the pack with 250m to go, securing a two-length victory.

It’s been an exceptional year for Without a Fight, following victories in the Group 3 Lord Mayors Cup and the $1.2 million Q22 during a winter campaign in Queensland.

This win in the Melbourne Cup makes Without a Fight the first horse since Ethereal in 2001 to win both the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup back-to-back.

Jockey Mark Zahra, who also won last year’s Melbourne Cup, expressed his amazement and credited the trainers for their work with the horse.
