Teacher scores over 1,500 Three-Pointers in One Hour

A gym teacher from Maine, USA, may have broken his third Guinness World Record by making an incredible 1,516 three-point basketball shots in just one hour.

Ryan Martin, who teaches physical education at Saco Middle School, took on the challenge at his school’s gym on Monday night. He attempted 1,683 shots and successfully made 1,516 of them — beating the record goal of 1,372 by a wide margin.

Martin said a side cramp nearly stopped him halfway through, but cheering students and help from fellow teacher Nick Wilson kept him going. “The crowd just got so loud at the right moment — it was like a message from above,” Martin shared with local news.

This isn’t his first record. Martin, a former college basketball star once named Mr. Maine Basketball, already holds two Guinness World Records. One is for making 1,134 NBA-distance three-pointers in an hour, and another for sinking 2,494 free throws in the same amount of time.

His latest record is still waiting for official confirmation, but Martin’s students already see him as a champion.
