Rare Giraffe with no spots

Brights Zoo in Tennessee, USA, has welcomed a rare all-brown giraffe, a female Reticulated giraffe with a uniform brown color, born on July 31.

This unique colour is extremely rare and hasn’t been seen since 1972.

In the wild, giraffes’ spots serve as camouflage and help regulate temperature.

The zoo plans to use the unusual birth to raise awareness about the challenges facing giraffes in the wild due to poaching and is holding a naming competition for the new arrival.
