The New Zealand cricket team have secured a big win against South Africa in the first of two cricket tests.
The Black Caps won by 281 runs, finishing the game on the fourth day in Tauranga. South Africa was aiming for a very challenging score of 529 runs to win but could only score 247.
New Zealand had set a strong foundation with 511 runs in their first innings, thanks to Ravindra’s double century and Kane Williamson’s century.
Williamson continued his excellent form by scoring another century in the second innings.
South Africa struggled throughout, scoring only 162 in their first innings. New Zealand’s bowlers, including Matt Henry and Santner, played a significant role in limiting South Africa’s runs.
The win is especially exciting for New Zealand because they have never won a test series against South Africa before.
They are now looking forward to possibly making history in the second test match in Hamilton.
