New Zealand celebrated a golden moment at the Winter X Games in Aspen as 21-year-old Luca Harrington won gold in the men’s Ski Slopestyle event. This adds to the silver he earned the day before in freeski Big Air, giving him two medals in two days.

Harrington, who also won the same event last year, became just the third skier ever to win back-to-back golds in Ski Slopestyle. Despite tough weather conditions and event delays, he impressed judges by landing difficult tricks, scoring 94.33 in his second run to take the lead.

Zoi Sadowski-Synnott also shone, winning silver in the snowboard Big Air event, just after claiming silver in the Slopestyle. She returned to top form following a recent knee injury, with coach Tom Willmott praising her brave and skilful performance.

The third medal for New Zealand came from Rocco Jamieson in the snowboard Big Air. He scored 90.66 points with a stunning backside 2160 in his final run, earning him a well-deserved silver.

New Zealand’s medal count now stands at five after just two days of competition, with more events still to come.
