Kamala Harris becomes Democratic Candidate

Kamala Harris has officially been chosen as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming United States presidential election.

With just ten weeks to go until the big day, she will be running against Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, in the race to become president.

Harris, who is currently the vice president of the United States, was selected to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee after he stepped down from the race last month. The announcement was made at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, a major event held every four years to decide the party’s candidate.

In her acceptance speech, Kamala Harris promised to lead “for all Americans” and spoke about “charting a new path forward” if she wins the election in November. This makes Harris the first Black and Asian-American woman to be nominated as a presidential candidate by a major U.S. political party.

The event also featured performances by famous musicians like Pink and Stevie Wonder, and the celebration ended with colourful balloons dropping from the ceiling. Now, both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will work hard to win enough votes in the coming weeks to become the next president of the United States.
