Ahmedabad, a large city in India, has been chosen to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. This event will be a special one, marking 100 years since the very first Games were held in 1930. The decision was made at a big meeting of Commonwealth countries, where members voted between Ahmedabad and another city called Abuja in Nigeria.

Ahmedabad won because it already has many sports venues and promises to upgrade them instead of building everything from scratch. This means the city hopes to avoid the delays and high costs that happened when India last hosted the Games in 2010.

The 2030 Games are expected to include 15 to 17 sports. Some that are already confirmed are athletics, swimming, netball, boxing, gymnastics, table tennis, and weightlifting, including events for athletes with disabilities. There might also be cricket, badminton, rugby sevens, and other sports added later.

Leaders say the Games will bring together athletes and communities from all over the Commonwealth to celebrate sport and friendship. It will also give India a chance to show it can host a world-class event in a modern and responsible way.

The full list of sports will be announced next year. The Games are planned for October 2030, when thousands of athletes from many nations will gather in Ahmedabad for this historic celebration.
