In a surprising twist in the world of Formula 1 racing, British driving sensation Lewis Hamilton is set to switch teams, moving from Mercedes to Ferrari starting in the 2025 season.

The news was confirmed by the Italian team on Thursday, has sent shockwaves through the F1 community, especially since Hamilton had previously said his desire was to stick with the “Silver Arrows” for his entire career.

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, a team that’s been a cornerstone of Formula 1 since its inception in 1950, is monumental. It means that Ferrari will now have the most decorated driver in F1 history behind the wheel. Hamilton, who has clinched seven World Championship titles and played a pivotal role in securing eight Constructors’ titles for Mercedes, is regarded as the sport’s top star.

Reflecting on his time with Mercedes, Hamilton shared his deep connection with the team, noting how it has been a part of his life since he was 13.

Leaving Mercedes, he admitted, was one of the toughest choices he’s ever had to make. However, he feels that now is the right time for a new challenge and is excited about what lies ahead with Ferrari.
