New Zealand cricketer Finn Allen has broken the world record for most sixes in a single T20 match, smashing 19 sixes during a powerful innings in the United States. This happened on June 13, during the first game of the Major League Cricket season, where Allen played for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Washington Freedom.
The 26-year-old opener scored 151 runs from just 51 balls, helping his team win by 153 runs. His strike rate was an astonishing 296 — meaning he nearly scored three runs per ball! This huge score was the main reason his team won so easily.
Allen broke the previous six-hitting record set by Chris Gayle of the West Indies, who had hit 18 sixes in a 2017 match. Allen also became the fastest player to score 150 runs in T20 cricket, reaching the mark in just 49 balls. He even set a new record for the fastest century by a New Zealander in T20 cricket, taking only 34 balls.
“It was exciting,” Allen said. “Got off to a good start, found the boundaries regularly.”
Though Allen is not currently contracted with New Zealand Cricket, he continues to impress in leagues around the world. Earlier this year, he also played in a successful T20 series against Pakistan.
