Black Fern beat Ireland

New Zealand’s women’s rugby team, the Black Ferns, crushed Ireland 40-0 in a big win at the Women’s Rugby World Cup. The game was played in Brighton, and now New Zealand will face South Africa in the quarterfinals.

Ireland had beaten New Zealand last year, but this time the Black Ferns were stronger, faster, and better prepared. Only nine players from last year’s team returned, and the new group showed just how powerful they can be.

The star of the match was 18-year-old Braxton Sorensen-McGee, who scored three tries — her second hat trick in a row! Renee Holmes kicked five successful conversions and almost scored another try at the end.

Ireland started the game with confidence and even faced off against New Zealand’s haka (a traditional Māori challenge). But while Ireland came close to scoring a few times, they couldn’t break through. New Zealand’s defense stayed strong, and their attacking moves were too quick for the Irish team to stop.

The Black Ferns’ teamwork was impressive, with great passes and clever plays that helped them score six tries. Ireland also suffered some injuries, including fullback Stacey Flood, but their coach believes the players will recover in time for the next match.

With this win, New Zealand finished first in their group. Ireland will now play France in the quarterfinals. The other match-ups are England vs. Scotland and Canada vs. Australia.

New Zealand’s huge win shows they are serious about keeping their world champion title!
