Beatles release final song

The final Beatles recording, titled “Now and Then,” has been released, marking the first and only original Beatles recording of the 21st century.

The song is a double A-side single with “Love Me Do,” the band’s 1962 debut single. “Now and Then” comes from a batch of unreleased songs written by John Lennon in the 1970s, which were used to construct the songs “Free As a Bird” and “Real Love,” released in the mid-1990s.

Technical limitations prevented the completion of “Now and Then” until now when modern AI technology was used to isolate Lennon’s voice from the original cassette recording.

An official music video for “Now and Then,” directed by Peter Jackson, has premiered on the Beatles’ YouTube channel. It uses footage from McCartney and Starr, as well as long-forgotten film from the 1995 recording sessions and home movie footage provided by Lennon’s son Sean and Olivia Harrison.
