The victory didn’t come easy, as they had to go into extra time to defeat Suva FC with a score of 4-2. Auckland City took a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half, but Suva FC made an impressive comeback, spurred on by the crowd in Vanuatu.

The game ended in a 2-2 tie, leading to extra time. Both teams received red cards, leaving them with 10 players each. In extra time, Auckland City managed to score a crucial goal, and Ryan De Vries added another just before the final whistle.

This win secures Auckland City’s spot in the FIFA Club World Cup, the top club competition.

Auckland City captain Cam Howieson, named the player of the match, praised his team’s perseverance and their ability to overcome adversity.

They are now eagerly looking forward to representing their club and country in the FIFA Club World Cup.
